The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute is an industry-independent, nonprofit organization that has established performance based standards to define goods with low chemical and particle emissions for use indoors, including seating products. Remanufacturing conserves energy and natural resources. The amount of labor and energy required to alter existing product during remanufacturing is 85% to 95% less than that required to manufacture a new product. Industry experts estimate that for each pound of natural resources used in remanufacturing, 5-9 pounds of virgin materials are conserved.
